1000 Miles Cycling Challenge 2018
The challenge……. to cycle 1000 miles within two weeks in Spain in the middle of Summer and raise much needed funds for our water well projects in Sierra Leone ! Thank you Mark & Sharron, tenki, tenki, tenki !
Mark Hawkins and Sharron Edgecomb began their 1000 cycle challenge on the 23rd August and ended back in Gibraltar on the 6th September after having completed a gruelling 838 miles (1340 kilometres) and in doign so raised a big amount for our charity ! Their aim was to raise enough to provide a new water well (£2,500). Mark spent 2 months working as part of a disaster response team who was running a large Ebola Treatment Centre in Sierra Leone. Ebola was defeated but the country still faces massive challenges, especially in terms of education where schools need so much assistance and often lack basic sanitation, equipment and in a lot of cases clean water. Mark and Sharron covered all the costs (hotels, flights, etcetera) so 100% of your support went to our water projects. It was a tough, long ride in very high temperatures
